Thomas L. Mahlen, Jr.
Tom is admitted to practice in Montana State and Federal Courts, and is a member of Defense Research Institute and Montana Defense Trial Lawyers Association.
Tom has been involved in construction defect cases, insurance coverage disputes and coverage analysis, declaratory judgment actions, complex contractual actions, auto and truck collision cases, and employment disputes. Tom has assisted in defending several local and regional businesses against allegations of age, gender, race, and disability discrimination under state and federal law, and has experience practicing before the Montana Human Rights Bureau, the Montana Human Rights Commission, and the Department of Labor-Hearings Bureau. Tom is well-versed regarding procedural and substantive issues facing employers in these cases.
Originally from Danbury, Wisconsin, Tom graduated with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law before moving to Montana. Tom is an active member of the Billings community. He has volunteered at Habitat for Humanity home building projects, and has served on the Family Partner Committee, where he assisted Habitat families in reaching their home-ownership goals. Tom also served on the Billings Community Development Board.
In his free time, Tom enjoys outdoors activities such as hunting, fishing, and hiking in the nearby Beartooth Mountains.
